(MHI) are pleased to announce the signing of a Partnership Agreement that will offer a CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture solution for Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels (FPSO) as they are producing oil and gas from offshore reservoirs. The agreement follows a successful engineering and design study between the companies demonstrating the technical feasibility and commercial readiness of CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture technology offshore.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The CO<sub>2 <\/sub>capture solution will apply MHI\u2019s proprietary \u201cAdvanced KM CDR Process<sup>TM<\/sup>\u201d technology, jointly developed with The Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc.<\/li>\n<li>The technology enables significant greenhouse gas emissions reductions from FPSOs by capturing CO<sub>2<\/sub> from onboard gas turbines.<\/li>\n<li>It is estimated that the CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture technology can reduce CO<sub>2<\/sub> emissions from overall FPSO operations by up to 70%.<\/li>\n<li>The solution is being developed as part of SBM Offshore\u2019s emissionZERO<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> program and is based on a combination of MHI\u2019s proprietary CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture technology and SBM Offshore\u2019s industry leading Fast4ward<sup>\u00ae<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>Demand for decarbonization of FPSO operations is expected to increase rapidly. Through this collaboration, the companies will aim to open the door to offshore CO<sub>2<\/sub> capture and storage development, making a concrete contribution to carbon neutrality efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Olivier Icyk, Managing Director of Floating Production Solutions at SBM Offshore commented:<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>The signing of this Partnership Agreement marks a key development within our emissionZERO<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> program, whose goal is to provide FPSOs with near-zero emissions.
